Situated between the islands of Grenada, Barbados and St. Lucia, the islands known as St. Vincent & the Grenadines are part of a larger group known as the Windward Islands. By far the largest and most developed island of St. Vincent & the Grenadines is St. Vincent, which is roughly 150 square miles in size, and is renowned for its verdant forest and mountainous topography, and there are some great places to stay. The Soufrière volcano, in the north of the St. Vincent, is one of its key attractions. The islands are particularly popular for snorkelling, diving and sailing, with brilliant white sand beaches and crystal clear, turquoise waters. The colonial history can be felt in Kingstown, the capital of St. Vincent and also the largest town on any of the islands. St. Vincent & the Grenadines are not as commercial as many of the other Caribbean islands, but certainly offer a great deal to explore, discover and enjoy.
